HDD Trenchless Boring
HDD Cactus operates four directional boring rigs with various sizing capabilities. With a full inventory of HDPE conduit and fusing capabilities, we can drill and install utility lines for a variety of applications. Our crews are knowledgeable about drilling (hammering) in rock as well as advancing holes through the easier ground conditions.
Aerial Installation
In spite of the ‘HDD’ in our name, we realize that sometimes the best and most economical way to install utility lines is via overhead lines. We have a crew devoted to that purpose and can help you on your next aerial project.
Excavation
HDD Cactus owns a full range of excavation equipment and employs seasoned operators on its crews. These crews are experienced with conduit installation of various types and bury in place utilities. HDD Cactus Daylighting & Hydrovac™ Services
HDD Cactus provides professional hydrovac excavation services throughout La Plata County, including Durango, Ignacio, Bayfield, and surrounding Southwest Colorado communities. Our hydrovac truck delivers safe, non-destructive excavation solutions designed to protect underground utilities and critical infrastructure.
Using highly pressurized water combined with a powerful vacuum system, our hydrovac equipment precisely excavates and daylight buried pipelines, fiber lines, water lines, sewer systems, and other underground utilities. This process liquefies soil into a slurry, which is immediately removed into a truck-mounted debris tank positioned up to 600 feet away from the excavation site. Our system is capable of excavation depths up to 50 feet.
Hydrovac excavation is ideal for projects across Durango, Ignacio, Bayfield, and rural La Plata County, especially in areas with challenging soil conditions. Our equipment performs efficiently in clay, hard-packed soil, frozen ground, and tight-access job sites common throughout Southwest Colorado.

Colorado
HDD Cactus was born out of the oil field in Colorado. We maintain two drilling licenses in Colorado and perform much of our HDD work in the Southwestern area of Colorado. Our main office for HDD work is based in Durango, CO.
Utah
HDD Cactus maintains a crew in Salt Lake City to service out Utah customers. With our yard and other facilities in Salt Lake, we are able to service most of the state of Utah with this crew and equipment.
New Mexico
HDD Cactus maintains both a drilling license and an excavation contractors license in New Mexico. Our HDD equipment is frequently in southeastern New Mexico aiding those in the oilfield. But we’re happy to service anywhere in New Mexico in need of HDD trenchless boring, excavation or Aerial utility installation.
